The president of Gandhibagh Wholesale Cloth and Yarn Merchant Association, Ajay Madan on Thursday stated that if shop owners or their employees are found COVID-19 positive, their shops should not be sealed for 28 days. On the contrary, the shop and its premises owned by such shop owners should be sanitised and permission should be granted to re-open the shops within three days.
He further said that a shop at Patni Bhavan in Gandhibagh was closed for many days. After that, the business of all the shop owners suffered a huge loss. Though, the COVID-19 hit shop keeper has recuperated fully and has returned home, yet his shop is still shut down. He has demanded permission from NMC authorities to re-start business. Due to the odd and even system of keeping the shops open, the business has already affected. As per the orders issued by district collector if anyone is found COVID-19 positive in the industrial areas, the industry premises can be sanitised and industry operations can be resumed within three days. Under such condition, why should there be different set of rules for shopkeepers? he asked.
