Recently a PIL has been filed in the Nagpur bench of Bombay High Court against the commercialization of Children’s traffic park at Dharampeth.As per information; the hearing on the petition filed by the Civic Action Guild Foundation will take place on Monday. According to the petition, a notice was issued on July 10, 2020 to hire private contractor to run the park. The last date of tender is August 4.
The tender will be opened on 6 August. And the contract will be valid for five years. The park was constructed to educate children about traffic rules. Barring this, the park has become a centre of commercial entertainment only. Many anti-social activities have been reported in the park. A complaint was made with the public representation and officials in this regard, but no action was taken. The park is now safe for children to play and senior citizens to walk.However, the park will become commercial by appointing a private operator.Therefore, the disputed tender notice should be cancelled.
