Akola: The COVID-19 infection is tightening its grip in Akola as the district may soon cross 3K mark. So far the district has reported total 2,880 positive patients.
On Thursday the districts reported 80 news cases of COVID19 while only 18 patients returned home after recovery. Of the 80 new cases, 55 reports were received through lab tests and remaining 25 through rapid antigen tests.
Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) sources informed that total 324 swab reports were received on August 6 of which 269 were negative. The patients include 12 from Akot teshil, 9 from Wadegaon, 7 from Agar village,5from Punoti in Barshitakli, 3 from Ridhora in Balapur taluka and, each from Dalambi andSangwamel village in Murtizapur teshil and in Shioni.
Persons detected positive in Akola Municipal Corporation are as include 6 from Shastri Nagar, 4 from Sindhi Camp and one each from Ram Nagar, Kaulkhed, Washim bypass, Old Cotton Market, Ganesh Nagar and Gorakshan Road.
Total 364 rapid antigen tests were conducted and 25 of them came positive. They include 5 from Akot, 9 from Murtizapur, 1 from Balapur and 10 from Municipal Corporation area.
The 18 patients who got discharge include 10 from GMCH, 2 from COVID Hospital, Murtizapur and 3 each from OZONE and ICON Hospitals. At present there are 463 coronavirus positive patients in the district. Total 113 people have died of the disease till date and 2,304 have recovered and given discharged.
