Demandig exemption in electricity bills, workers of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) staged dharna in front of Energy Minister, Dr Nitin Raut’s office in Bezonbagh on Sunday.
The workers demand that the Government must exempt electricity bills up to 200 units per month during lockdown period and should cancel the raised power tariff.
AAP Secretary Bhushan Dhakulkar said that the Shiv Sena had assured 30 per cent cut in power bills upto 300 units in its election manifesto, and now, the Government must fulfill the same. Government should conduct audit of electricity generation companies and offer relief to consumers who had paid the bills for lockdown period.â€
He appealed to the consumers not to pay bills till the Government cancelled the hike in tariff and fulfilled the above demands. If the Government fails to meet the demands, AAP will intensify the agitation, Dhakulkar stated.
