In the wake of the coronavirus lockdown, South East Central Railway Nagpur division led by Shobhana Bandopadhyay-Divisional Railway Manager Nagpur and the Department of Commerce together have started a special parcel train in order to ensure uninterrupted supply of essential items.
The parcel train will carry essential commodities such as food items, medicines, medical supplies, medical equipment, edible oil, milk, fruits, vegetables etc.
The special parcel train will run from Itwari station between August 1 to 18. Around 575.28 tonnes of parcels have been booked so far. From the booking a total of Rs 15 lakh 58 thousand 136 is recovered.
In the current scenario of lockdown and travel restrictions, Vikas Kumar Kashyap, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Commercial Officer / Inspector / Parcel Supervisors are making an effort to promote parcel booking and conecting with traders so that more and more people can carry essential commodities.
