In view of the increasing cases of Covid-19 in the city and the constant surge in death toll the wholesale cloth market association has decided to close the Gandhibagh cloth market from September 13 to September 20.
The move was decided as a precautionary measure on the constant surge of cases in the city. The Wholesale cloth market Association received suggestion letters from different businessmen around the city to close the market for a week after which the decision was made.
On average Nagpur is witnessing 1000 new patients being infected every day from the deadly virus while an average of 40 patients succumbing from the infection.
On Tuesday, September 7, Nagpur recorded the highest spike with 2,205 corona cases while on Wednesday, September 9, Nagpur reported 59 patients succumbing to the infection. The toll has surged to 1516, in which 1163 deaths are from the city,216 from rural and rest 137 from out of Nagpur.
This has taken the cumulative number of cases to 46490 while the total active cases are 11,895 including 6,728 asymptomatic cases advised for home isolation.
