After a long break, the first-year classes for the academic session 2020-21are all set to finally begin from November 1, 2020.
University Grants Commission (UGC) released revised guidelines for the new session and has directed all the varsities to start the classes from November 1.
The first-year classes for undergraduate and postgraduate courses can begin in November. The varsities have been instructed to complete up the admission schedule by November 30.
Before this UGC had released an academic calendar on April 29 which said that classes of first-year students should begin on September 1 and final year exams should be conducted from July 1 to July 15. However, due to the pandemic, taking a firm grip and the constant rise in COVID-19 infection the calendar was revised and the final year exams were decided to be conducted by September end.
According to the new directive, a full refund will be made on the cancellation of admissions/ migration of students up to November 30. It was also mentioned that on cancellation/ withdrawal of admissions up to December 31, 2020, the entire fee collected from a student will be refunded and institutes can make the deduction of not more than Rs 1000 as processing fee.
The merit or entrance based admissions for UG/PG students should be completed by October end and the remaining vacant seats should be filled up by November 30. UGC has also asked the universities across the nation to start the process of provisional admission for undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
