The state government on Friday faced a backlash when the Nagpur bench of Bombay High Court stayed the notification fixing the charges for the treatment of Covid and non Covid patients at private hospitals, nursing homes and clinics.Earlier, the state government had issued the controversial notification on May 21, 2020.According to it, the rates for the treatment of Covid positive and non Covid patients were fixed at private hospitals and nursing homes.
Against this notification, Hospitals Association Nagpur and Dr.Pradip Arora filed a petition at High Court. In the petition, the petitioner said that the state government has no rights to fix the charges for the treatment at private hospitals. The court issued the notice to the state government on August 13 and after that the court gave substantial time to the state government to clear their stand on the notification. On September 15, the court also warned the government to stay the notification. However, the state government failed to file the reply. And the next hearing is scheduled on September 29.Meanwhile; the state government gave the application to the Chief Justice to transfer the petition at Bombay High Court. But no decision has been taken on this.
