Mahindra &Mahindra Ltd, the world’s largest tractor manufacturing company and pioneers in farm mechanization across the globe has added another feather to its cap by collaborating with Indian Railways, Nagpur Division. In a pilot project from Nagpur and Central India, M&M has dispatched the first export NMG railway rake to Benapole in Bangladesh. They have successfully moved 101 tractors from their Hingna Plant, from the rail yard at Ajni siding.
This event is seen as a revolutionary means of transportation since the existing alternative mode by Road is very time consuming and problematic solution for the exporters to Bangladesh. The land border has always having benn having pressing problems with no visible solutions in sight and the exporters have been suffering for a long time. The rail movement in NMG rake’s will not only provide clean, safe, fast and efficient means of transportation but will also reduce the chances of theft and accidents that the road movement is prone to and facilitate faster turnaround for exports overall and will result in frequent new orders and improved cash flows.
The train was flagged off on Tuesday 13th OCT 2020 by Mr. Shrikant Dubey, Plant Head, M&M Nagpur, in the presence of Mr. Anup Kumar Satpathy, Addl Divisional Railway Manager, Nagpur Region, Mr. Sachin Tare, Head of Manufacturing, Nagpur Plant, Mr.Shikhar Biswas, DGM-Logistics & Supply Chain, International Operations, M&M Ltd and other senior officials from Railways and M&M Ltd were present to grace the occasion. ATC Global Logistics Pvt.Ltd, a key player in providing Multimodal Logistics solutions and based out of Mumbai & Nagpur, played a lead role in providing the Indenting and overall handling of the project.
