Over 900 Medical Practitioners (450 Medical Officers, 450 Lecturers) went on strike on Thursday and Friday in GMCH. Ever since 2009 these medical practitioners, lecturers were promised permanent status in the college and hospital. But their demand has not been fulfilled yet. They have been waiting for their permanent status for over 11 years.
Even during the hard times of COVID, these people have worked tirelessly and wholeheartedly and yet the Government has still not fulfilled their demand for permanent status. The demands have been falling on deaf ears as the administration has completely turned a blind eye towards it.
However, this is just a temporary agitation and these people are still willing to negotiate if their demands can be met. They have given the Government ultimatum till November 1 for this. If even after that their demands are not fulfilled then they will go on a permanent strike.
