As part of its plan to promote Nagpur Metro services among citizens, Maha Metro would open a leisure centre for senior citizens at Airport station on Wardha Road from October 28 onwards. The airport has a replica of Bapu Kuti, similar to one in Sewagram (W ardha) where one can access books on life of Mahatma Gandhi. Bapu Kuti concept was introduced by Dr Brijesh Dixit, Managing Director, Maha Metro, and it truly enhances the beauty of spotless airport metro station. Each metro station has a different theme and senior citizens can visit during morning or in evening as a walking track is also available in the station area.
Also the vertical garden on the metro pillar at the airport square, and facilities for sitting at the library provides perfect backdrop for an evening stroll in the area. Books on many aspects of Mahatma Gandhi’s personality are available. Citizens will be able to read a large number of books at this place. Apart from this, other literary books on the life of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Swami Vivekanand, and Vinoba Bhave will also be available for the citizens. Maha Metro is taking extra care in time of pandemic and ensuring cleanliness of every station and coaches are sanitized from time to time. The leisure centre is first of its kind activity in the city where senior citizens can have a gale time. The library will be completely free of cost and main objective behind this is to connect maximum number of citizens to the Nagpur Metro Rail Project and to make the Metro service available to the citizens. The leisure center will be open to the public from 8 am to 8 pm. Senior citizens living in different parts of the city should travel by easy, comfortable, safe, sanitized metro to take advantage of this leisure centre.
