The Nagpur Municipal Corporation has informed the Nagpur Bench of Bombay High Court that it has formed a three-member sub-committee for preparing rules for conservation of Grade-1 heritage Zero Mile situated in Civil Lines. The Zero Mile established in 1907 is centre of attraction of tourists.
A PIL in this regard is pending in high court. Meantime, NMC told court that the committee formed e will be as per Heritage Building Conservation Act implemented on October 15, 2003 and two more member experts will be included into it.
The mediator in this case Paramjit Ahuja suggested that these expert members should be representatives of Urban Development Research Institute and School of Planning and Architectural, New Delhi. The high court accepted this fact and ordered sub-com mittee to act as per this suggestion. The Court has directed NMC to cooperate with the concerned.
