For every Bengali Diwali is more than just a festival to burst crackers, to have sweets, to meet close friends and family. It is a time where every Bengali worships Goddess Kali and realizes that noble work always wins over evil intentions.
Goddess Kali is always known as a God who always kills and destroys evil forces. She is considered the most powerful form of Shakti. For every Bengali after celebrating Diwali the traditional way i.e. by bursting crackers, having some sweets, meeting some friends and neighbors what they look forward to is going to the Kali Mandir, offer prayers, and worshipping.
But that’s just the beginning after that comes giving the anjoli (puja) and then finally the day ends with having bhog (food). Every person of the Bengali community waits for these days because these are priceless moments.
But this year COVID has spoiled and destroyed every plan of everyone. Once which has always been a place of joy, celebration, get together in Nagpur at this time of the year has completely turned into a deserted place. With no idols, no puja preparations, no food, no wearing traditional clothes, not meeting your friends this year it dosen’t feel like Diwali for no one.
Once filled with joy, now a deserted place
