Amidst a public event, on Friday, 13 November 2020, honourable Home Minister of Maharashtra, Shri Anil Deshmukh launched the Coffee Table Book HOMELESS PORTRAITS, authored by Dr. Amit Bijon Dutta. Shri Deshmukh launched the book by untying the ribbon on the book and signing a copy for author Dr. Amit Bijon Dutta an internationally acclaimed photographer from the city.
On the side-lines of the event, honourable home minister lauded the book by appreciating the photographs in the book and congratulated Dr. Dutta for working on such a unique topic. He also wished him success for his upcoming projects.Â
Homeless portraits – the book – is a collection of portraits and stories of 100 homeless people whom Dr. Dutta met on the streets of Nagpur. The forewords for the book are written by Dr. Barun Sinha, a photographer acclaimed worldwide for his works and Mr. Ranjit Deshmukh, a noted Photojournalist from the city. The book is published by Binder Photobooks, Delhi. For Dr. Dutta, a civil engineer by profession, it took three years to complete the project. He would steal time from his hectic work schedule to find and interview homeless people living in the direst of conditions on the streets of Nagpur.Â
Expressing his satisfaction, Dr. Dutta exclaimed, “it is an achievement to receive such appreciation from honourable Home Minister himself. This is the greatest Diwali gift for me. Hope the book helps raise our collective conscience.â€Â
The book will soon be available on www.dramitbdutta.com and Amazon.Â
