After much hullaballoo, the State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) has allowed the customers to pay the bill in three installments. As per information, the customers will have to pay the 30 percent amount of the lump sum bill at first and rest amount could be paid in three equal installments. The point to be noted here is that the state’s energy minister Nitin Raut had claimed that the state government would give Diwali gifts to the public by giving relief in the electricity bills during the lockdown period.
But unfortunately, the minister made it clear that the government will not be able to give relief in the bills due to the poor financial condition of the power companies, Meanwhile, MSEDCL started campaign to recover the outstanding electricity bill from Tuesday itself. The company has also announced the facility of installments due to the pandemic .Thirty percent of the amount will have to be paid as a down payment within 7 days of the installment being approved. Customers whose power connection has been snapped temporarily or permanently for the non-payment of bill, they will also get the facility to pay in installments. Special desks will be prepared in sub division offices to provide installments facilities to citizens. Along with this, camps will also be organized in some areas if the Covid increases.
