Careless attitude by colleges as scholarship fund worth Rs 98 crore goes back to govt

The students of backward classes may have to suffer now as the scholarship amount worth Rs 98 crore went back to the government sue to shear negligence of the college authorities.

The government provides scholarship to the students belonging to the backward classes, however this year the colleges did not checked the applications filled by the scholarship aspirants properly and due to some mistakes in the form, the money returned to the government.

As no funds received the educational institutions have started asking fees from the students.

Speaking on the matter, Commissioner of Social Welfare Dr Prashant Narnavare said that the funds have gone back. “This happed because of the careless attitude of the colleges”.

The assistant commissioner has warned of strict action against the Colleges demanding exam fees or any other fees from the students neglecting the rules.
