Chandrapur: The Education Department has finally allowed schools to reopen from today. After this decision total 566 out of 617 schools in the district will reopen in a phased manner. However, staff members of many schools have been tested positive for the virus and therefore the department has directed these schools to reopen once the staffers recovered from the infection.
RTPCR tests of over 8,000 teachers and non-teaching staffers from 617 schools, including aided, non-aided, private and Zilla Parishad schools, are underway in the district. In all 4,337 teaching and non-teaching staffers have been tested for COVID-19 so far and of them 34 persons from 16 schools have been found to be infected.
Schools having positive employee and those who have testings pending will not be allowed to reopen, it has been informed. The officer further mentioned that physical classes will not be for more than three to four hours.
District Collector Ajay Gulhane has directed schools to maintain all the preventivemeasures like thermal scanner, pulse oximeter and hand washing and sanitising facility in the schools to ensure safety of students.
