Before the month of March tourist places near the city like Pench, Gorewada, Tadoba, and Kanha had a continuous flow of people coming. Tourists were coming to these places on a regular basis and the Hotels and Resorts in these places were doing really well.
But as the economists and the financial experts all around the world have been saying that it’s the hospitality sector that has suffered the most during the pandemic and they were absolutely right as Hotels and Resorts in these places had to bear huge financial losses.
Speaking to The Live Nagpur BDM (Business Development Manager) of Olive Resorts Mohit Zanke said, “We had to shut our complete operations for four months. We had to bear huge losses and had no other choice to lay off people. The jungle safari that we offer through our resorts has also taken a beating and we are finding it very difficult to survive. â€
Tuli Resorts Akash Uhare had pretty much the same thing to say, he said, “We closed our resort for four months, and ever since we have opened our operations our business has seen a decline of over 45 percent. The hospitality sector has been the biggest victim of this pandemic and it’s going to take more than a year for us to get our business backâ€.
But in all of this black cloud, there is a silver linning as the owners of these resorts also said that for the past few weeks we are seeing an increase in tourists coming to our resorts. Zanke said, “Even though it is at a very slow pace but still there is a 20 percent increase in people coming to our resorts. He said the reasons for this could be many. Since the maximum number of people coming to our resorts are from Nagpur and with the cases coming down citizens are not fearing the pandemic anymore. Secondly, with the positive news of vaccines coming just a matter of months away people are unafraid to go to public places. Uhare added that after being in a lockdown mode for almost five months more and more people are feeling the need for a quick getaway.
