Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, World Health Organisation, and Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) have jointly started National Tuberculosis Prevalence Survey in the city of Nagpur.
According to Dr Shilpa Jichkar, Tuberculosis Prevalence Survey had commenced in 16 States of the country. Due to COVID-19 pandemic, the survey was stopped. Now, it has commenced once again.
As per the plan, City Tuberculosis Control Society, Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) is conducting the survey in Nandanvan, Darshan Colony, Sadbhav Nagar, Rajendra Nagar, KDK College Road, Wathoda, Nari, Bhandewadi slum areas.
Dr Shilpa Jichkar, City Tuberculosis Officer, stated in a press release that Dr Rishikesh Andhalkar, Team Leader of ICMR, will be assisted by a X-Ray Assistant, Laboratory Assistant, Health Worker, and a mobile Tuberculosis Research Vehicle for conduct of the survey. NMC Health Department, Medical Officer of respective area, ASHA workers, and other staff will extend help to the survey team.
