Tuberculosis Elimination Programme, a joint survey to find out Tuberculosis ( TB) and Leprosy patients will be conducted in Nagpur city from December 1 to December 16.
Due to COVID-19 pandemic situation, diagnosis and medication to TB and Leprosy patients got affected drastically this year, compared to past years.
Against this backdrop, Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has suggested various measures. In accordance with these measures, the joint survey will be conducted in the city.
The objective of the campaign is to find out TB and Leprosy patients and start their treatment.
The survey will be conducted in high-risk groups like slum dwellers, brick kiln workers, Nomadic Tribes, migrant workers, mine workers, beggars, etc. Also, the survey teams will visit prisons, old age homes, ashramshalas, hostels, mental hospital etc. ASHA workers and trained volunteers will visit the areas. Dr Narendra Bahirwar, Medical Officer (Health); Dr Shilpa Jichkar, City Tuberculosis Officer; and Dr Bhojraj Madke, Assistant Director Health Services (Leprosy), have appealed to the people to cooperate and provide requisite information to the survey team.
