In an attempt to enhance passenger comfort, the Indian Railways has recently began a new design innovation for the side lower berths of the compartments.
In a video shared on twitter, a railways official explains that many passengers used to feel uncomfortable while sleeping on a side-lower berth due to the uneven gap occurrence that used to happen after the seats were placed down.
To solve that problem the railways has introduced a cushioned side-board which can be placed on the slanted berth. This would not only be providing a continuous and smoother surface for passengers to sleep on but it will also provide more surface area than the legacy berths.
The innovation appears to have been added in the AC Two Tier LHB coach.
