The Weak Component Committee has approved the proposal to distribute school bags and water bottles to the backward class students studying at Nagpur Municipal Corporation School.
This decision was taken during a meeting of the Weak Component Committee held at the Dr. Punjabrao Deshmukh Smriti Standing Committee Hall at the Corporation Headquarters on Monday.
The meeting was attended by Gopichand Kumre, Chairman, Weak Ghatak Samiti and Asha Uike, Member, Committee. Apart from this, members of the committee Rajendra Sonkusare, Rutika Masram, Vidya Madavi, Vandana Bhagat, Neha Nikase, Deputy Commissioner in charge Amol Chaurapgar, Education Officer Preeti Mishrikotkar were also connected through video conferencing.
At the beginning, Committee Chairman Gopichand Kumre reviewed the issue of distribution of school bags and water bottles to the backward class students of the Corporation School.
A total of 19,330 students are studying in Nagpur Municipal School from class I to XII. Out of these 10,780 are backward class students.
The distribution of school bags and water bottles to these students will cost the Municipal Corporation around Rs. 500 per student. A total expenditure of Rs. 13 to 14 lakhs is proposed for the entire students and the entire expenditure will be given by the education department, said Education Officer Preeti Mishrikotkar.
The Corporation is making efforts to impart quality education to the NMC School students for which educational materials is also neccessary.
While providing quality education to these students, the committee aims to provide good quality school bags and water bottles to all these students as soon as possible, said committee chairman Gopichand Kumre.
