Taking stern action on the online sale of sharp-edged weapons on various e-commerce websites Nagpur Commissioner of Police Amitesh Kumar issued an order on imposing a ban on the sale of sharp-edged weapons and issued an order under Section 144 CrPC of Indian Penal Code.
It has been observed that the weapon used by the accused in some serious crimes in Nagpur city has been purchased online from the e-commerce platform.
It has been pointed out that some sharp-edged lethal weapons “whose blade is more than 09 inches long or whose blade is more than 02 inches wide” are a cognizable offense under Section 4 of Section 25 of the Indian Firearms Act, but some e-commerce platforms selling it via online.
This type of weapon makes it easier for criminals to harm citizens. The move has been taken as a measure to reduce physical crime in the city. Anyone who violates this order will be liable for criminal and other legal action.
