Another tournament, yet another triumph. This has been the story of Shiva Iyer in the last few months as far as Nagpur district’s online chess tournaments are concerned.
The total domination of Shiva Iyer can be gauged from the fact that most of his titles were achieved without conceding a single outing.
In the SN Shrivastava and Kalavatidevi Shrivastava Memorial Rapid Online Chess tournament, organized and conducted by Nagpur District Chess Association, which concluded here on Sunday, too Shiva notched up maximum eight points from as many rounds to stamp his authority in style.
In the eighth and final round, Shiva outwitted Kaustav Barat on the top board to maintain his unbeaten run.
On the second board, Aditya Bodkhe outclassed Krupal Wanjari to clinch the runner-up position with seven points.
The total prize money was Rs 5,000. In all, 48 players participated in the two-day tourney. The time control gave all players 10 minutes and 5 seconds increments each to finish the game.
The tournament was conducted under the supervision of IA Pravin Pantawane and FA Umesh Panbude.
