The Member of Parliament (MP) Accidental Spot Identification and rectification Committee formed under the presidentship of Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister for Road Transport, Highway and MSME had traced 66 black spots (accident-prone spots) in the district, said Dr Vikas Mahatme, Member of Rajya Sabha and Working President of the Committee, while talking to The Live Nagpur in an interview.
Dr Mahatme, further added that all public representatives, related departments, and NGO’s were part of the Committee. “We had initially identified 66 spots after that 44 more spots were identified by the State, which was also included in the list and the tally reached 110. Except 4 or 5 all spots have been rectifiedâ€.
“He further informed that proper blinkers, speed-breakers, reflectors, Zebra crossing, speed limit board where necessary was put in place. “As a precautionary measure we even widen Amravati Road and Maharajbagh Square Road, so that vehicle drivers will be able to clearly see the road†Dr Mahatme said. He added that even potholes were properly covered.
He said “Finally now the people should follow the traffic rules. They must not skip the signals, wear helmets, use of seat belts, use deem lights in the night, drive slowly and safely.â€
