A smart initiative indeed as the traffic branch has launched the ‘Smart Nakabandi’ app to recover the pending fine from the defaulters. As per information, like bar code, the full details of the outstanding challan will be revealed as soon as the number of any vehicle is scanned. If three or more invoices are outstanding, the traffic police will detain the said vehicle. The traffic branch has started this campaign from Wednesday. The point to be noted here is that besides the traffic police challan device, e-challan is done with CCTV cameras installed in the city.
There are hundreds of e-chllans daily. In the last two years, the traffic branch has e-challened motorists to the tune of Rs.35 crore.Out of this, a fine of 19 crore rupees has been paid by the citizens. But 44% of e-challan is still owed by drivers. Besides traffic details, the app has a detailed list of all the traffic violation fines. The app also contains the latest RTO approved fare chart for the auto with both day and night charges.Furthermore, on navigating the app one can find all the police control rooms number from highway control room to Nagpur rural and Nagpur urban control room number. There is also a detailed list of the emergency contact numbers of various hospitals, ambulance services, blood banks, fire brigade and even crane services. This app will work in Nagpur and Thane and it has been launched as the defaulters don’t come forward voluntarily to pay the fine.
