Rajesh Rokde, Director Rokde Jewellers and Secretary of Nagpur Sarafa Association has been elected as the Director of All India Gem And Jewellery Domestic Council (GJC). Rokde is the first from the entire region to represent the National body of jewellery business. Previously Nitin Khandalwal, was the zonal President, but Rokde is the first to be elected on the GJC National Council along with 14 other National Regional Directors.
All India Gem And Jewellery Domestic Council is a national trade federation established with the objective to address the industry, its functioning, and its cause with a 360° approach to promote and progress its growth while protecting the industry’s interests. As a self-regulated trade body, GJC, since the last 15 years, has been serving as a bridge between the Government and the trade as well as undertaking various initiatives on behalf of and for the industry.
GJC represents the interests of over 3 lakh gem and jewellery businesses from across the country. GJC represents various industry segments such as Manufacturers, Retailers, Wholesalers, Allied, gold, silver, platinum, diamonds, Gemstones, machinery, etc. including the entire industry value chain from bullion to retail.
GJC also undertakes various initiatives and programmes that are aimed at improving industry business practices, promote compliance, standardization and transparency, promoting professionalism for the growth and development of the industry sector. The organization also initiates various promotional activities to further retail businesses as well as manufacturing segments through various dedicated platforms designed for the purpose.
While talking in an exclusive interview with The Live Nagpur, Rokde said that his agenda is to promote jewellery manufacturing in the entire Vidarbha Region and set the business all over the region in an organized manner. Rokde, who is also Vidarbha President of Maharashtra Swarnakar Saraf Mahamandal. Is also representing the Fellowship Committee, which showcases Indian jewellery and news trends into the international market through B2B exhibitions. The fourth-generation entrepreneur has done his bacholer’s in Commerce and certification in Diamond Grading. “Experience is the best teacher, and I have learnt lot from the open university,†Rokde said. Rokde who has is the only director from the entire Maharashtra along with Chairman Ashish Pethe, of Waman Hari Pethe Jewellers summed that in his tenure of two years emphasis will be on setting the business in an organized way and make the jewellery industry flourish.
