As we know after the pandemic, the bird flu outbreak is creating challenges for our healthcare and in view of this the Pune Health Service Directorate has instructed the civic body as well as the Zilla Parishad to remain alert. Along with this, instructions have been given to take necessary steps to deal with the bird flu and to survey the patients suffering from influenza. The NMC has appealed the citizens to inform it wherever the birds are dying in large numbers.
And asked citizens to not to touch dead birds with open hands. Instructions have also been issued to coordinate with the Animal Husbandry Department. Do not come in contact with birds. The utensils in which birds and chickens are fed should be washed properly with detergent. If a bird is found dead report it to the District and Departmental Control Room. Workers should wash their hands regularly. Employees handling raw chicken and chicken products should use masks and gloves. Do not eat undercooked meat. Effectively survey influenza-like patients .People working in poultry farms,abattoris should be surveyed. If found suspicious, send them to National Institute of Virology Pune.
