Saif Ali Khan and makers of recently released web series ‘Tandav’ landed in trouble as two BJP leaders have requested a ban on the show alleging that it has “disrespected Hindu gods.â€
BJP MLA Ram Kadam lodged a complaint against the makers of ‘Tandav’ at the Ghatkopar police station in Mumbai, and urged authorities to take “strict action†against the actors, producers and director of the show.
In a series of tweets, Kadam, complained that Saif Ali Khan had participated in a show that hurts the sentiments of Hindus. He also demanded that the scene “mocking Shiva” should be removed and that Zeeshan Ayyub, who features in the scene, apologise. He called for a boycott of the show until his demands were met.
Meanwhile, BJP MP Manoj Kotak, wrote a letter to the Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Prakash Javadekar, asking for a ban on ‘Tandav’.
“It seems that the makers of Tandav are deliberately mocking Hindu Gods and disrespecting Hindu religious sentiments,†Kotak wrote.
Kotak claimed the lack of censorship on online platforms is leading to repeated attacks on Hindu sentiments.
