Maintaining his dream run, Shiva Iyer reigned supreme in the Sawalakhe Hospital sixth Vidarbha-level online open blitz chess tournament here recently.
The one-day tourney was organized by the Power Chess Academy on the platform of lichess.org.
Prize money of Rs 3,000 was sponsored by Dr Niraj Sawalakhe, Jay Institute of Gastroenterology And Liver Diseases.
In all, 27 players from Amravati, Gadchiroli, Chandrapur and Nagpur played 9 rounds of chess on battle of boards. The time control was given 3 minutes plus 2 seconds increment from move one to all players.
In-form Shiva Iyer of Nagpur won the event with 8 points out of 9 rounds. He was followed by Dishank Bajaj, who notched up 7.5 points out of 9. The third position was secured by Suhan Deshpande also of Nagpur with 6 points out of 9.
Best female prizes won by Krishna Taori of Nagpur, Tanishka Deogade of Chandrapur, and Shraddha Bajaj from Nagpur.
The tournament was conducted under the supervision of IA Deepak Chavan and FA Umesh Panbude, SA Roshan Sahare, and Pallavi Chavan.
