The proposed elections of High Court Bar Association (HCBA) will be finally held on March 12, 2021. The elections were slated on April 17, 2020 but in view of lockdown in the aftermath of COVID-19 pandemic, the elections were postponed. The declaration of HCBA elections has also indicated return of normalcy in court corridors. The five-member panel consisting of Prakash Meghe, Bhanudas Kulkarni, Arun Patil, Sangram Sirpurkar and Firdos Mirza is supervising the electoral process.
As per latest schedule, HCBA polls to elect new executive committee consisting of president, secretary, two vice-presidents, joint secretary, treasurer, library in-charge and nine executive committee members will be held on March 12. The last date to clear payment of arrears is January 30 and preliminary voters list will be published on February 12. Final list will be published on February 16 after hearing and deciding objections. The nominations can be filed from February 17 up to February 25 and names can be withdrawn till March 3. As per HCBA constitution, members enrolled on or after January 20, 2020 are not eligible for being included in the voters list. Only members who have cleared arrears of HCBA membership up to December 31, 2020 shall be eligible for being included in voters list.
