In a shocking incident, a couple along with their daughter committed suicide by jumping into Gosekhurd dam in Kuhi /Veltur. The bodies were found with their hands tied separately with odhni. The deceased have been identified as Shyam Gajanan Narnawre (46), his wife Savita (35), and daughter Samata (12), all residents of Anmol Nagar, Wathoda. Shyam was working as cashier in Sant Jagnade Co-operative Society. Assistant Police Inspector (API) Kaviraj Anand of Weltur Police Station said that the family has many relatives in the Kuhi tehsil area. An eye-witness told the police that the family visited a temple at Ambhora in the evening.
During their return journey, they stopped the motorcycle near a bridge constructed over the backwater of the river. After tying their hands with odhni, the three jumped into the river. The water is around 30-feet deep where the three committed suicide. Some fishermen found the bodies in the river on Sunday morning and alerted the police officials. Staff of Weltur Police Station rushed to the spot .The police managed to trace the bodies at around 1 pm with the help of locals. The bodies were sent to Government Hospital in Kuhi for post-mortem. Many relatives of the deceased gathered at the hospital. None of them was aware of the reason that can lead them to commit suicide. API Anand said that Sanita’s hands were tied to waist with odhni. A case of accidental death was registered by Weltur Police.
