Food and Drug Administration (FDA) carried out a raid on the office and godown of NMC Marketing Private Limited, at Narsala and Bidipeth. Huge stock of unlabelled Ayurvedic and Unani medicines was seized by the FDA authorities. The raid was carried out under the supervision of Drug Inspectors  Shahnaz Taji, Monika Dhawad and Swati Bharde. The FDA authorities seized 37 boxes containing fake medicines, valued at Rs 41 lakhs. The name and address of the manufacturer and other details were missing from the packings.
Panchnama under Form 16 was done in presence of a partner of the company Vijay Tendulkar. Investigation in this connection will be carried out in Nagpur and Hyderabad. In view of the growing demand for Ayurvedic and Unani products, mainly immunity boosters, fake products are likely to be sold in the market. The traditional methods and ayurvedic products are considered to be better in boosting immunity, compared to costly modern medicine. The products are being sold projecting ‘no side effects and can be procured without proper prescription from a registered medical practitioner.
