Vidarbha defeated Madhya Pradesh by four wickets in Vijay Hazre Trophy match at Indore, here on Monday. After restricting MP to 243 for 9, Vidarbha achieved the target sparing four wickets in 48.5 overs. Ganesh Satish (47, 66b, 2×4, 1×6) and captain Faiz Fazal leading from the front scored (43, 70b, 5×4) and ensured victory. Significant contributions also came from Yash Rathod (39, 45b, 3×4, 1×6) and Aditya Sarvate (39, 23b,5×4, 1×6). Darshan Nalkande remained unbeaten on 19. Earlier left-arm spinner Sarvate returned with impressive bowling figures of 10-0-39-3. He got the three important MP wickets including that of Rajat Patidar.
MP skipper Parth Sahani won the toss and opted to bat. They lost opener Venkatesh Iyer without opening the account but recovered through wicketkeeper-batsman Abhishek Bhandari (31) and Shubham Sharma (36). Thereafter, Rajat Patidar (38) and Aditya Shrivastava (52) were involved in a big partnership for the fourth wicket to provide stability to their innings. However, both departed in quick succession as Vidarbha looked on top of the MP batsmen. Just when it appeared that hosts MP would crumble under pressure, skipper Parth Sahani played a captain’s knock and bailed out his team.
Sahani’s unbeaten knock of 68 helped his side reach a respectable score of 243. He faced 58 balls and struck six fours and three sixes.
Vidarbha pacers Aditya Thakare, Darshan Nalkande, and Saurabh Dubey bowled well and got a wicket each.
