Nagpur district on Wednesday recorded the biggest jump in daily COVID-19 cases after a long gap. For the last two weeks, the district is consistently witnessing more than 500 cases after which the administration started to tighten its guidelines. However, despite continuous appeals citizens are seen violating the guidelines that resulted in a sudden surge in cases.
On February 24, the district reported biggest daily jump with 1181 fresh cases taking the total number of positive cases to 145715. Today10 people succumbed to the virus-borne disease taking the tally of deaths to 4301.
As per the official report, out of the total positive cases, 224 were from rural areas and 955 from Nagpur city alone. Meanwhile, from the total deaths, 7 were reported from Nagpur city and 2 from outside the district, and 1 the rural areas.
After the fresh updates, the total active cases in the city now stand at 7184 including asymptomatic cases advised for home isolation.
With 455 recoveries in the day, the cumulative number of recovered cases rose to 134230 (including 67008 home isolation recoveries). The recovery rate recorded today was 92.12% percent.
Today’s 1181 positive cases were reported from various hospitals.
