It is a new record for Maharashtra State Power Generation Corporation (MahaGenco), a leading state run power generating companies in the country.It has set a new record on March 9 as it generated 10,445 MW of power in a single day. To meet the growing energy demand driven by economic growth and increased agricultural consumption, MahaGenco produced highest ever power from its own stable at 4.40 pm. This was highest ever single day generation in its history of 60-years, the company officials stated. While achieving this milestone, MahaGenco surpassed its previous high of 10,098 MW power generated on May 20, 2019.
Earlier, it has already achieved 10,275 MW of power generation and has continued its record by breaking its own record to record 10,445 MW. Of this, 7991 MW was generated by thermal power generation, 264 MW from Wind power plants, 2138 MW through hydropower plants and 50 MW by Solar power projects. At this time MSEDCL’s demand for electricity is around 22,129 MW and total power generation in the State as of date was 16429 MW. This is only the third time in history of MahaGenco that it has generated more than 10,000 power. Just a day before on March 8, the company recorded 10,097 MW generation. With the increasing demand for electricity from industries and businesses in the State as well as the onset of summer, the overall demand for electricity is going to increase further. This record-breaking performance shows that MahaGenco is ready to overcome various problems and generate 10,000 MW plus electricity in a similar manner in the near future. The high generation was achieved through efficient fuel management, excellent operations, MahaGenco has stated and in achieving record generation the company has ensured that it meets the stringent merit order dispatch (MoD) norms.
