Nagpur Municipal Corporation has undertaken the work of beautification of Bhosle-era Sonegaon Lake in the south-western assembly constituency of the city. Presentation of proposed beautification work of Sonegaon Lake on Thursday by Mayor Dayashankar Tiwari. Standing Committee Chairman Prakash Bhoyar, ruling party leader Avinash Thackeray was present.
A proposal of Rs 17.32 crore has already been approved by the Government of Maharashtra. Â Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Assembly Devendra Fadnavis was also present.
Engineer Chetan Kavere, Representative of Architect Bhivagade Associates and Architect Rajendra Mahulkar made presentations. He said that sidewalks would be constructed on all sides of Sonegaon lake and security wall would also be constructed at some places. The beautification of this lake will boost tourism. A large parking lot for 150 two-wheelers and 4 four-wheelers will be set up for the citizens coming here. Toys for children as well as a green gym for citizens will be arranged.
Toilets and park arrangements, as well as lighting, will be provided for the tourists visiting here. It is proposed to repair stone walls in some places. There will also be breakfast stalls at this place. It is planned to give this heritage lake a “look” of that time. On this occasion, Chief Engineer Leena Budhe, Superintendent Engineer Ajay Pohekar, Sunil Sharma was also present.
