Delhi halted Vidarbha’s winning streak in s in Women’s Senior One-Day Trophy at the Sri Ramachandra Medical College ground in Chennai on Friday. Vidarbha lost to Delhi by 70 runs and thus suffered first defeat after winning three straight matches. Chasing a small target of 138, Vidarbha  were all out for just  67 in 34.4  in over.
Earlier Vidarbha bowlers restricted Delhi to  137 for 9. However the pathetic batting performance led them down in the run chase .
Except for stand-in  captain  Disha Kasat, none of the Vidarbha players could even reach double-digit figures. Disha (21: 52 , 3×4) and Vaishnavi Khandkar (7: 57 ) were off to a very slow start.
They  made 29 runs partnership for first wicket but consumed as may as 16 overs. Bharti Fulmali, who had scored three half-centuries in the earlier three matches  was dismissed for just 9 runs off 18 balls. Bharti’s early dismissal put  pressure on the other  batswomen as they just surrendered  meekly without offering any semblance of a fight.
Vidarbha lost their last nine wickets for the addition of just 28 runs.For Delhi medium-pacer Lalita Sharma  triggered Vidarbha collapse by taking five wicket haul. Mandeep Kuar  got  up 2 for 4, while Sonia Lohiya and captain Babita Negi took a wicket apiece.
Earlier,Delhi skipper Babita Negi won the toss and elected to bat. They got off to a decent start. ith 34 for no loss after 11 overs,  they looked solid. However When Kasat introduced Nupur Kohale, that ploy proved disastrous to Delhi as she quickly removed openers  Shweta Sehrawat (16) and Vandana Chaturvedi (11) Once they lost the openers, Delhi eves’ struggle began.
Although Neha Tanwar (20) and Mandeep Kaur (18) tried to arrest the slide with a 42-run partnership for the third wicket, Vidarbha bowlers dominated the proceedings and dried up the runs.Nupur finished with an impressive figures of  10-2-22-4 — to repeat her last match’s performance. On Wednesday against Himachal, Nupur had figures of 9-1-19-4.Spinner Reena Paul (7-2-12-2) offered solid support from the other end whereas Disha Kasat chipped in with a wicket. Now Vidarbha will play their last league match against Karnataka on Sunday.
