A delegation of Nagpur Mangal Karyalay and Marriage Hall Association met Dr Nitin Raut, Nagpur District Guardian Minister and Maharashtra Energy Minister. They requested Dr Raut to give permission to allow marriage halls to reopen with 50 per cent of the hall capacity. Justifying their demand they said that 200 families were directly dependent on one marriage.
One marriage gives earning to catering, grocery supplier, flower decorator, mehandi artist, band, dhole, rongoli artist, DJ, event management team, dairy, security guard, valet parking guard, cloth merchants, gift merchants and many more. They were paid regular salaries and rents despite one month lockdown. Cases of Corona were increasing all across the state, despite strict restrictions in cities like Pune, Nasik, Thane, Mumbai, and other cities, permission for marriages in marriage halls, lawns, etc were given.
Even marriages are allowed in halls in rural areas of the district, then why injustice to city hall owners? They requested to allow the wedding industry to work with its 50 per cent capacity. They also clarified that cases were increasing due to marriage functions taking place at homes, which is a very small place.
Allowing marriages in bigger spaces will be helpful in controlling the virus. Last year’s lockdown and again ban of 1 month have ruined the marriage industry. Dr Raut after patiently listening to the delegation said that the right decision at the suitable time will be taken. Present on the occasion were Sanjay Kale, Vijay Talmale, Ashish Deshmukh, Vijay Kankande, Sudhakar Baitule, Narendra Pande, Vijay Pal, Mahesh Chakole, Sanjay Ekane, and others. Â Â
