In view of increasing number of COVID-19 patients, the Government Medical College and Hospital has demanded to use 90 beds in its basement, for them. The application to allow utilization of these beds was made by Deputy Medical Superintendent of GMCH. The appeal has been accepted by Nagpur Bench of Bombay High Court on March 23.
It was an appeal to modify the order of the court delivered on September 29, last year. The beds in the basement are fully equipped with oxygen supply. The beds were not being used following water logging during last monsoon season. The appeal was disposed of by Justice Sunil Shukre and Justice Avinash Gharote late in the evening of Tuesday.
Creating facility for additional 1,000 beds was issued by the High Court in September 2020. The beds could not be created for several reasons. Now GMCH will have additional 90 beds for the Corona patients.
