The civic administration has set itself for a big task of setting up six 24×7 vaccination centres in city so as to be ready to provide jab for countering COVID-19 virus to all the people from 4-years and above. Mayor Dayashankar Tiwari issued the direction during the discussion on adjournment motion during general body meeting of civic body on Thursday. The civic administration was directed to ensure that one centre each should function in assembly segment and they be ready by April 1. Recently the Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray had made a suggestion to start vaccination for people in age group of 45+ and same was accepted by Central Government. Anticipating huge rush at existing vaccination centres wherein senior citizens, front-line workers and people in age group of 45+ having co-morbidities, corporators demanded stepping-up of facilities on part of NMC. At end of the discussion, Mayor directed to increase the number of oxygen cylinders at civic hospital and to make adequate arrangements for medicines. He suggested to start treatment for coronary heart disease in AYUSH Hospital, Sadar, and also to start a walk-in centre in Panchpaoli. He also directed to seek the help of NGOs to keep track on home quarantine patients.
Mayor, during discussion, said civic body is working to develop an app wherein people can have information about availability of vacant beds on tips of their fingers. At present, people can get information by contacting Corona Control Room located at civic headquarters. He also directed that maximum number of cleaning workers should be vaccinated and also stopped 50 per cent of next month’s pay of those workers who do not come forward for vaccination.
