The second capital of the state on Sunday registered 58 deaths which is the biggest jump in death count on the second consecutive day and also in the last six months. On a positive note, the single-day recovery count has also improved as the district reports 3479 persons became free of the virus in the day.
With 3,970 fresh positive cases on Sunday, the cumulative caseload of positive cases in the district has now reached 2,18,820. Out of the total positive patients, 2950 were reported from the city while 1017 belonged to the rural area.
The addition of 58 new deaths has taken the total toll of fatalities to 4,931. From the total fatalities, 37 were reported from the city and 18 from the rural areas.
The toll of active cases in the district now stands at 3,77,76. Meanwhile, the huge jump in recovery count has improved the recovery rate to 80.48 percent.
As per the updated report, total 1,76,113 persons have been discharged till date from health care facilities.
