Vidarbha women are all set to take on Andhra Pradesh in the quarterfinal of Senior One-Day Trophy at Rajkot on Monday.
Vidarbha entered the quarterfinal on Elite group for the first time by topping group ‘E’. Baring Delhi they defeated strong outfits like Karnataka, Delhi, Tamil Nadu, and minnows Meghalaya. Naturally, their confidence is very high.
In form Bharti Fulmali, stand-in captain Disha Kasat, left-arm spinner and second-highest wicket taken Nupur Kohale will be the centre of attraction for Vidarbha. Bhaarti is in tremendous form and at league stage she has scored 282 runs in five matches. Similarly, the confidence of Disha will be high after playing an unbeaten century knock against Karnataka after three consecutive failures. Nupur Kohale will lead Vidarbha’s charge in the all-important quarterfinal. The team management is expecting another match winning performance from this trio. At the same time, one can’t forget the contribution of Vaishnavi Khandkar in the winning cause.
Opener Prangini Chauhan who tested corona positive during the league stage is back into the squad. She will likely to open with Minal Bodkhe, as indicated by VCA (Women)ICA member Jyoti Thatte. According to her the way Vidarbha girls are playing, they start favourites against Andhra.
Not just the seniors but the juniors like Gargi Wankar and Ankita Bhongade had delivered their best whenever the team required.
As far as opponents Andhra are concerned, they topped the group ‘C’ with 20 points winning nall five matches. In the process they defeated Goa, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashta Rajasthan and Chandigarh. Therefore Vidarbha women would not take them lightly.
All in all Vidarbha have great opportunity to qualify for the semis and make the history.
