The online process for the admission under Right to Education (RTE) Act in the 5729 reserved seats of 680 schools of the district for the deprived class ended on Tuesday. As per information, more than 24000 applications were received for available seats. This number is much less than last year. Last year more than 34000 applications were received for same number of seats.
The officials said that despite Covid pandemic, parents have applied for admission of their children. The point to be noted here is that the process of filling the form online had started on March 3.At first, the last date was March 21.Later it was extended to March 30.As per the sources, many parents are not happy that children do not get admission in the schools they want. And in view of frauds happening in reputed schools in city, parents are not interested in applying in those schools. Another reason is that many parents do not enroll children even after taking the slot under RTE.
