There is policy of the government to regularise encroachments made on government land for residential purpose in rural area. As per this policy, over 16,000 encroachments made on gaothan and other government lands in district will be regularised. Every house is being measures by drone camera. The drone mapping of houses in 867 villages has been completed and valuation cards have been distributed to 30 villages.
There are 786 grampanchayats in Nagpur district and 1,904 villages come under them. There are encroachments on government lands in most of the villages and reasons behind them varies. The government has decided to regularise these encroachments. Accordingly, over 16,000 homes in the district will get ownership rights. Most of the families are living on government land for many years. But their dream of own house was incomplete as they did not have ownership right of land.
Barring gairan lands, lands of public use, forest 7 land, and those land – where living is not possible, the residential encroachments on all other government lands up to January 1, 2011, are being regularised. 3,371 s encroachments on gram e panchayat lands will be regularised while over 12,000 encroachments on government lands will be e regularised.
