As Nagpur is set to enter the weekend lockdown from 8 pm Friday to 7 am Monday, Nagpur Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar reviewed the preparation in the city to ensure strict lockdown.
The weekend lockdown in which no one will be allowed to move in public places without valid reasons is declared to break the COVID chain in the city.
After the lockdown from April 5, citizens were still seen violating COVID norms and moving on the city streets. To avoid such situation this weekend lockdown and also due to the protest of vendors in all over the city on Thursday, police convey led by CP Kumar conducted a march in the many areas of the city.
As from Friday 8 pm, there will be no movement allowed except essential services till Monday 7 am as night curfew and weekend lockdown will be enforced in the city to control the spread of the virus.
The Maharashtra government earlier this week, made additional restrictions announcing weekend lockdown and night curfew in the city amid huge Covid surge in the state.
The fresh norms, which come into effect today, include a curfew from 8 pm till Monday morning. Meanwhile movement of not more than 5 people will be allowed between 7 am and 8 pm.
