The Supreme Court of India and several health experts are insisting on strict lockdown in the country to curb the second wave of the Coronavirus pandemic but administration is still in sleep. Even after the direction by the top court on Sunday, Citizens on Monday were observed stepping out of the houses without any essential work ignoring the deaths of hundreds of people due to Covid-19 every day.
The Apex court on Sunday directed the central and state governments to consider lockdown to control the spread of the covid-19 tsunami that the country is witnessing.
In a hearing from the officials over the measures being taken to curb the spread of the virus, the Supreme court said “In light of the continuing surge of infections in the second wave of the pandemic, we direct the Central Government and State Governments to put on record the efforts taken to curb the spread of the virus and the measures that they plan on taking in the near future.â€
Even after the advice of the top court, the administration seems to be still sleeping as even on Monday, people stepped out in large numbers for nonessential works. The streets of the city are crowded with people enjoying their time in markets, shops, and roads. Many places in the city like Mahal, Godhani, Dharampeth, Medical Square were observed with usual traffic. No administration officials were observed bothering about the same as there are almost no checking of commuters and clampdown of lockdown violators throughout the city.Â
