Ex Cabinet Minister Dr Anees Ahmed today submitted a deputation to School Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad and brought in attention of her notice the pending demand of parents of Class 10 (SSC) students demanding that the state board returns exam fees charged from their wards. After the state education department cancelled the Class 10 (SSC) exams this year, it would be totally unfair if state board does not return exam fees of more than 17 lakh students from Maharashtra who were set to write exams, demanded Anees Ahmed. Explaining to the Minister Anees Ahmed said, each student is charged Rs 415 making it a whopping amount of Rs 70 crore pending with the state education department.Â
Dr. Anees reiterated that Exam fees is charged to cover costs incurred in conducting and supervising exams and assessing answer sheets but as this year no exams are going to be held , the board will not incur any charges such as stationery costs for printing papers, supervision allowances to teachers and paper assessment charges to examiners and moderators. Thus, these fees need to be returned to every student demanded Anees Ahmed.
Dr. Anees Ahmed apprised the Minister that as it is due to Covid 19, parents are ecomically very hard pressed and this step would in a small way help to ease their burden.
