Even though the number of Covid cases in the district has reduced, the black fungus is creating headaches for the citizens. The number of mucormycosis patients is rising in the district. The situation in Nagpur division is worrisome. The division currently has the highest number of mucormysosis cases after Pune.The disease is spreading among people with uncontrolled diabetes who are given high doses of steroids. As many as 950 cases of disease have been reported in the state till May18.The health department has issued guidelines about the growing risk of mucormycosis.As the cases are growing, there is also occurring shortage of medicines, which is a worrying factor. As per the information, after Pune, Nagpur division has the highest number of cases; total 273 active patients have been registered in Pune division and 233 in Nagpur.
And this has raised concern in the healthcare system of the city. According to the information, 267 patients have been registered in Pune and the highest number of 273 patients has been registered in three districts of Pune division. In Nagpur district, 133 patients were found and total 233 patients have been found in six districts of Nagpur division, 128 in four districts in Latur division, 85 in four districts in Aurangabad division, 39 in five districts in Akola division, 39 in five districts in Nashik division, 39 in three districts in Thane division and 22 in Kolhapur district.Besides, the shortage of Amphotericin-B injections in the state, which are important in the treatment of the disease. As per the information, the central government will soon provide 165000 injection vials and Nagpur division will get 4050 vials.
