Corporation (NMC) had spent 5.71 crore on barri cades and tin sheds installed in the contain ment zones during the first wave of Coronavirus pandemic last year. The concerned proposal has been approve during the meeting of the standing committee on Friday.
During the first wave of covid last year, the then NMC commissioner Tukaram Mundhe had ordered to seal the hotspot premises with barricades and tin sheds.
The maximum 1.11 crore was spent in barricading Mangalwari zone. 1.04 lakh was spent in Dharampeth zone while in Gandhibagh and Satranjipura zones the money was spent from ward fund on containment zone and barricading.
Standing committee chairman Prakash Bhoyar said that 298.30 lakh was spent in Dhantoli zone, 296.54 lakh in Nehru Nagar zone, 79.76 lakh in Asi Nagar zone, 37.35 lakh in Hanuman Nagar zone, 26.95 lakh in Laxmi Nagar zone and 16.98 lakh in Lakdaganj zone. Similarly, the standing com mittee approved the expendi ture of 1.75 crore for pur chasing tablets for online education for students.
